Soft Fine is designed as a finer version of the extremely popular Eco Soft brushed yarn by Isager (which has been renamed Soft now that it comes in dyed as well as undyed shades). It is constructed in a similar way, but with a silk core rather than a cotton tube, and contains an incredibly soft mix of alpaca and yak fibres to give a wonderfully luxurious effect, whether held on its own, held double, or combined with other yarns. This is a good alternative for those who are sensitive to mohair, as it is somewhat similar to Isager’s Soft Silk Mohair, though it has a little more body and behaves slightly differently. The naturally dark yak fibres give each shade a fantastic depth of colour. Who could resist this yarn that Isager themselves have nicknamed ‘Isager’s cashmere’?!

Since 1977, Isager, a Danish company, has been furnishing the knitting world with natural fibre yarns and unique patterns. Founded by Marianne Isager, in partnership with her daughter Helga, the company has produced a successful line of knitting books and quality yarns, available in selected stores worldwide. Their story began with Åse Lund Jensen, who drew inspiration from Icelandic and Faroes knitting cultures, crafting a high-quality wool range still cherished today, including her favorites, Spinni and Jensen Yarn. Åse's pioneering spirit continues to influence the brand, driving Isager's commitment to knitting as a recognized craft. Today, Isager, residing in the picturesque village of Tversted, Jutland, offers not just yarns, but also a rich tradition and timeless patterns. We stock Isager not only for their gorgeous and unique offerings, but also for their commitment to sustainable and ethical practices in the creation of their products.
