More information
ABOUT THE KNITTING WORKSHOPS:
Helga Jóna
Thórunnardottir is a knitwear designer from Iceland but now lives in Denmark. She
teaches at SKALS, a folk high school and at Isager, and is one of the most
skilled knitters we know, always focusing on the finishing and nerdy details. She
and Helga Isager are authors of the book ‘Handcraft’.
ABOUT PLANT DYEING
The nature around Tversted village is very beautiful with a certain roughness, and it offers a lot of plants suitable for plant dyeing. The workshop begins with a walk collecting plant material for the dye bath, and maybe peeking in at Uldens Hus, who will provide the wool for this workshop. Bring walking shoes and an outdoor jacket. You’ll learn how to prepare the wool, how to make the dye bath, and how to dye the wool.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP AT THE HOUSE OF WOOL:
A visit to
the mini mill, Uldens Hus (the House of Wool) includes a talk and visit to the
mill. When it comes to wool, project manager Susanne Mikkelsen is a walking
dictionary, and she will share her knowledge with you. Students will learn how
the wool is spun, try carding and spinning the wool.
When the day ends, you’ll know everything you need to know about wool.
The mini mill is in walking distance from the school.
ABOUT THE EXCURSION – OPTIONAL (not included in the price):
Price depends on number of participant and will be arranged upon your arrival.
Skagen is a charming coastal town located at the northernmost tip of Denmark, and Grenen is
the tip of the peninsula where the two seas meet.
Skagen is where nature, art and charm unite. It is known for its picturesque
landscapes, artistic heritage, and unique cultural atmosphere. The amazing light has inspired many Danish painters, and at the museums, you can see works by the 'Skagen painters' Michael and Anna Ancher and P. S. Krøyer among others.
ABOUT THE OPTIONAL WORKSHOPS AT THE SCHOOL (not included in the price):
Tversted
Skole is the residence of different craftsmen / artists. Some of the studios
may offer. These optional workshops are not included in the price. If you want
to participate in one or more of these workshops, you must sign up with the
artist. The price varies but average is around DKK 250,- (€33) per 2 hour workshop, mostly including
materials.

The shop is situated next to the school and the Guest house and will be open
every day from 11am – 4pm. All participants get a 10% discount on yarns bought
in the shop.
